When conflict erupts or disaster strikes, people often are in need of protection from violence, coercion and deliberate deprivation. During and after the conflict and crisis, the children and women are more vulnerable to become victim of violence. States have the primary responsibility to protect persons under their control. OFRD provide protection services to children and women/youth in Afghanistan including shelter, legal aid, civil documentation, MHPSS, capacity building for returnees/IDPs. Children and women are also at risk of separation from families due to displacement. Increased financial and social strain on communities creates an environment where the risk of adoption of adverse coping strategies such as child labour, child/force marriage and child/women trafficking increases exposure to abuse, exploitation and violence; this also intensifies the risk of recruitment into armed groups. OFRD also work for women and youth empowerment through capacity building, and advocacy for their rights.

OFRD believe that the women/youth empowerment is the high need of Afghanistan is possible through capacity building, skill development, and providing business opportunities, which can cause decrease in conflict. OFRD provide women and youth empowerment education through trainings, media, networking and dialoguing, focusing on leadership, trauma awareness, indigenous peace processes, and conflict sensitivities and finding strength in diversity. The country fallen to Taliban regime once again on August 15, 2021 after failing of peace talks between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban. OFRD see a very less women/youth empowerment and peace efforts now, therefore, OFRD will carry on women/youth empowerment initiative through various activities in all over the country.
